When it comes to length, you’re only slightly longer than the average erect penis, which is 5.16 inches, according to a 2015 scientific review that looked at the flaccid and erect penises of over 15,500 men.

In the review, 68% of men measured between 4.5 and 5.8 inches, and 95% are in the 3.9- and 6.5-inch range in the review. At 6 inches, you’re in the top 15th percentile for penis length. In case you’re interested in girth (i.e., the circumference of your dick), the average penis had a girth of 3.7 inches when flaccid, and 4.6 inches when erect.

Dr. Joshua Gonzalez, MD, a board-certified urologist and ASTROGLIDE’s sexual health advisor, calls 6 inches “the Goldilocks of erections”—not too big (yes, there is such a thing) and not too small, but just right.

“With 6 inches you should also have more than enough to keep potential partners happy,” he says.

What’s more—you’re probably underestimating how your dick size is perceived. A survey of over 52,000 men and women found that while only 55% of men are satisfied with their penis size, 85% of women are pleased with what their partners are packing. Not only that, but women were way less likely to call their man’s penis “small” than the men themselves, and were far more likely to consider it “large.”

“The bottom line is, that whatever your penis size, there is a woman out there who either doesn’t care or will be happy with what you’ve got,” says Laurie Mintz, Ph.D., a certified sex therapist and author of Becoming Cliterate.

When Mintz replicated a study in her Psychology of Human Sexuality class, she found that after women were asked an open-ended question about what was most important to them during intercourse, not a single one of them mentioned penis size. Apparently, it’s far more important to most women that their partners care about their pleasure, make them feel comfortable, and know where the clitoris is.

What are the best sex positions for a 6-inch penis?

If your partner has a vagina, we’d recommend exploring the best sex positions for guys with a big penis. The vaginal canal is typically around four to five inches when aroused, and you don’t want to run into the issue of causing them pain.

If you’re worried about being too big, try out a sex positions where your partner is able to control the depth of penetration, such as cowgirl, and avoid thrusting—let them do the moving around. You can make up for the lack of hip movement by working wonders with your hands, such as stimulating their clitoris or playing with their nipples, if they’re into that. Remember: you should still be working hard to satisfy them!

How to measure your penis

Here’s how to measure your penis, according to Gonazalez.

• First off, make sure to measure yourself when you’re fully erect. (Up to you how to get yourself there.)

• Make sure to use a soft tape measurer—like the one’s used by your local tailor. Since a laser tape measurer is too firm, it won’t bend to the curve of your penis to give you the most accurate reading. It’s also more likely to scratch your penis—ouch.

• Now, to get your magic number, lay the tape measurer from the pubic bone at the base of your penis all the way to the tip.

Don’t have a tape measurer? You can also use a string to measure, cut it to the size of your penis, and then use a ruler to get your reading.

Or, try this: When you’re hard, put a dollar bill directly next to your dick. A George Washington is 6.14 inches in length. If you’re the same length or more, then you know with certainty that you’re a true six.
